Despite having a place on the Miami Dolphins’ roster,  Daunte Culpepper is ‘homeless’.

He’s been kicked out of the Dolphins’ house last month  in favor of Trent Green. Unfortunately, this development came right after Culpepper received clearance from his doctor to participate in workouts with the team. Dolphin brass told the former  Pro Bowler that they were trying to trade him. Culpepper scoffed at the idea of a trade, and asked for his release. Not only that the Dolphin’s rejected Daunte’s release request, the team did not let him participate in last month’s minicamp.

Currently, Dolphins’ coach Cam Cameron is implying that this saga can boil over into training camp unless the team can find someone to trade with.  Traning camp is quickly approaching and yet, no one has agreed to a Culpepper trade. I cannot wrap my brain around the fact that the team is insisting a trade. Why does it have to be a trade? Are the Dolphins strapped for cap room?

This situation is only a distraction and will get worse during training camp. Imagine gearing up for a new year with a new starting quarterback and dealing with the baggage regarding the old one. It is not the end of the world if the Dolphins can not find a trade partner. Surely, they can find another way to open up some cap space if need be.

I think that it is best that the team should release Culpepper and call it a day. I am certain that Jacksonville, Detroit, Houston, and Oakland would not mind having him.
