Tennessee and Dallas made a deal yesterday to send Pacman Jones to the Cowboys for a 4th round pick in Saturday’s NFL Draft. If Jones is reinstated for the 2008 season, Dallas will also send a 6th round pick to the Titans in next year’s draft.
The Cowboys and Pacman also agreed on the terms of a 4 year deal when the cornerback is cleared to play.
You know, I am not really surpised that Dallas picked him up. The Cowboys need help in the secondary and a little bit of drama goes a long way.
T.O. , spare us the dramatics, You don’t give a damn about Tony Romo! Those tears were not for him. They were for YOU! Yesterday’s antics by Owens were only so he wouldn’t get blamed for the loss. If the tears wasn’t bad enough, this dude here said that he had great relationships with his teammates and quarterbacks throughout his career. Now everyone knows that is lie. Let’s run it down shall we!
T.O.
-Implied that Jeff Garcia was gay
-Ran down Donovan McNabb in Philly
-Implied that if he had Favre under center in the Super Bowl, he would have a ring.
Yeah, I know that TO invited Romo to his birthday party and they are seen together on the sidelines but that doesn’t mean that there is a strong bond. Hell, TO worked out endlessly with McNabb when he first arrived in Philly and we know how that relationship ended.
Folks can say whatever they feel about Randy Moss but he took a huge paycut to be with New England because he wants to win. Moss handled his business during his first year with the pats. While TO had some great games with Dallas, he manages to get in distraction after distraction. Now, the media do come down hard on him at times but this time, TO deserves every barb he gets.
Instead of getting the popcorn ready, how about some kleenex , Midol, and a little bit of Carl Thomas.
I’m just gonna say what needs to be said here. The Dallas Cowboys deserved to lose yesterday’s game plain and simple. There were senseless penalities, dropped passes, and piss poor special teams play on the part of the Cowboys. The Giants’ D brought the pressure and Dallas’ offense failed to make adjustments.
Romo once again caved in to the Playoff pressure and it was his own dumb ass fault. Instead of galavanting with Jessica Simpson and Jason Witten in Mexico, he should have spent more time with his playbook. Before anyone come here and say “Well, Romo wasnt the only one not studying the book or film.” “Brady didnt spend his bye week studying. He was in New York.” “Others have done worse on their bye week.” Let me say this: Tom Brady was pretty much flawless vs Jacksonville. In New York, surely he spent some time studying the book or I don’t know, maybe he went to practice too. In Green Bay, Favre, Grant and the rest of the Pack prepared, went out and kicked Seattle’s ass. What I’m saying is this: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A BYE WEEK!
Jerry Jones had $67 millon reasons to advance to the NFC Championship but he ended up wasting his money. Jones watched his investment take two sacks outside of the box without throwing the ball away. Jones also watched Romo throw that pick in the end zone.
Hey Cowboy fans, I heard that the NY Post planted a Simpson lookalike at the game. Tell me, that it had nothing to do with the outcome? Romo can’t be that dense can he? If Tony is indeed distracted by a “clone” of his ‘girlfriend’, his ass should be on the sidelines making a little bit above the league minimum and rockin the latest in officially licensed gear!
The bottom line is this: After signing a huge contract like Romo did, there are no more excusses. No more faux passes! Do whatever you do outside of the stadium. But on the field , just do your damn job- make the throws, make the adjustments and manage a game.
The receivers and defese should go back to some fundamentals and get some disipline.
As for for TO, I have somethin on that in the next entry.
While Dallas and Green Bay looks good on paper, and should meet for the championship, The NFC field is not as clear cut as you may think. While it is not as tough as the AFC, there should be some great match ups here. Seattle, Tampa, and the Giants all boast impressive defenses. The Giants and the Bucs are two sack happy defenses. New York lead the league in sacks this year while Tampa isn’t that far behind. Seattle thrives on the ability to blitz. Physical defenses and the ability to create different packages will confuse Dallas. While Romo’s been great for most of the year, he was losing focus in the second half. I actually look for that trend to continue.
The Cowboys are also vulnerable on defense. Being blitz happy will not be enough for a team like Washington. Clinton Portis is very good at picking up blitzes. This gives Todd Collins extra time in the pocket where hes propelled the ‘Skins to four straight wins. For the Redskins, I would like for them to get Betts more involved in the offense and to use the attributes that made Randel-El so dangerous in Pittsburgh. Washington will need their offence to compensate for the defense.
I’m concerned about Green Bay because they are one dimensional. The burden of the Packers’ success once again falls on Brett Favre’s arm. He is expected to thow and throw often. The cast of characters, must continue to step up if Green Bay have any shot at the NFC championship.
In Seattle, there is the talk of Hasselbeckwinning games with his arm. Honestly, I dont see that happening. First off, Hasselbeck can’t seem to stay off the ground. He was sacked 33 times this season. His touchdown to interception ratio don’t do it for me either. Seattle’s leading receiver, Bobby Engram is a man alone because no one else at wideout can catch. If he wants the team to go far, Mike Holmgren should establish a running attack with Shaun Alexander to provide some sort of balance to the offense.
While the Giants defense is solid, I still have my reservations about the offense. Eli Manning should great poise against the Patriots until he got too eager and threw the game changing interceptions late in the game. If he could play with the same poise and focus against Tampa, they should not have any problems moving on to the divisional round. The key for the Giants is the connection between Manning and Jermey Shockey’s backup, Kevin Boss.
My only concern about the Giants’ defense is the line. Jeff Garcia has been pretty successful agaisnt the defense. So far, Garcia boast a 4-1 record against New York. The defence must make adjustments to Gruden’s variation of the West Coast Offence. In Chucky’s version, Garcia can ad lib his adjustments whenever and connect quickly with the wide outs. However, I believe that New York will make those adjustments.
For the wild card round, I pick the ‘Skins over the Seahawks and the Giants over the Bucs.
Last night, I read an article on yahoo saying that some Cowboy fans are blaming Jessica Simpson for Tony Romo’s three interception peformance in Dallas’ 10-6 loss against Philly Sunday.
The statement and insinuation is assinine, absurd and downright retarded. Don’t get me wrong, I am no way a fan of Jesssica, but to believe she have something to do with Romo’s performance in the game is unfair. Think about it, how many wives, girlfriends, jumpoffs and groupies come to these games? There are alot of these women at the games, but thier presence do not affect the players one way or the other. I bet that the women Romo is dating all atteneded the games where he was performing well. You fans were not criticizing them!
While Romo is having a great year and elevating his free agent stock, bad games happen every once in a while. These bad games happen because maybe, the oppenets defense really studied, made adjustments and got hip to Dallas’ scheme. So, instead of blaming Jessica, Blame Tony and the offensive coordinator for not making the adjustments needed. Blame the Eagles defense for simplying being the better unit.
If you do want to blame Jessica for something, blame her for her undeserved success and career!
Now, I didn’t watch the first half of the Dallas/Buffalo game because I figured that it was not a lot to see, and I did not miss much. However, I tuned in after halftime to find that the Bills were actually leading. The Bills capatialized off of Romo’s interceptions, and had a legitimate chance until they choked late in the game. Trent Edwards’ interception late in the 4th cost the Bills the win. If it weren’t for that and if Buffalo recovered the onside kick, these guys could have pulled off the biggest upset of the season.
It was a great effort by both of these teams. Buffalo showed some grit and tough defense while Dallas showed resiellence. Unfortunately, in the game’s aftermath, there were quite a few reporters that game Romo credit. Credit for what? he damn near lost that game. To me, the Cowboys’ defense, special teams, and to an extent, TO deserves the credit for the win.
Sunday, we will see how good Dallas is when they face New England. Now,this is a great matchup between two undefeated teams, and worth watching on all levels. Sadly, I cannot say that same thing about the pregame shows this week. The week’s shows will be like a man crush convention.
The only reason why I have them at the top is their defense. Dallas’ defense has the advantage over the others in the division at this point. The attention whoring duo of Tony Romo and Terrell Owens will have their bright moments. However, I’m afraid those moments will be overshadowed by mess. Wild Card material at best.
2007 projected record 9-7
2.Eagles
Philly released the heart and soul of the defense yesterday in a shocking move. They will regret this decision and regret all the way to a losing record. I’m not sold on McNabb remaining healthy for a full season. This may get nasty
2007 projected record 8-8
3.Redskins
The only thing stopping Washington from developing into a great team is the defense. While the Skins somewhat addressed the defense needs in the offseason, it was not enough. Another concern of mine is the health of Clinton Portis. Without “Southeast Jerome” , Washington’s offense is rendered one dimensional, and Jason Campbell isn’t quite ready to handle the pressure yet
2007 projected record 7-9
4.Giants
Jermey Shockey, you have my deepest sympathy because it seems like you are the only one on your team that want to win. You are the only guy in that locker room with some passion and motivation. I commend you for not getting in to the beef with Eli and Tiki, and commenting on Strahan.
Critics can say whatever they please about Michael Irvin but I saw a different man Saturday. On that podium in Canton, I didnt see the brash, cocky, trash-talking outlaw receiver known as Playmaker. Instead, I saw a man who was humbled and overwhelmed by the distinction of being a member of the Pro Football Hall Of Fame.
Irvin’s speech was unquestionably, one of the most emotional speeches I have ever heard. To me, Irvin’s induction speech was 26 minutes of emotion, humility, and redemption! During Michael’s failed attempts at getting in the Hall, we all knew what the deal was. From a purely athletic standpoint, this man deserved to be in! For 12 seasons, he did everything in his power to help the Dallas Cowboys be the best team possible. This man worked extremely hard to help guide the team to three Super Bowl wins.
On the other hand, Irvin’s off the field transgressions were a valid but invalid reason to deny him entry in the hall. Valid because the NFL has an image to uphold. Invalid because there are already “thugs”, “crazies”, and “whoremongers” in the hall of fame regardless of sport. Why not add one more to the list?
Right now, Irvin’s episodes are irrevelant because he was man enough to admit his faults and all the greif and pain he caused his wife and children and his team and emotionally apologized for it all. People can evolve and change for the better regardless of past! For those critics of Irvin, you have every right to feel the way you want to but if you are living in a glass house, you cannot afford to throw stones!
For the longest, I always thought that the Bears were the only ones that did a music video. To my shock and horror, I was wrong. I found on you tube the Cowboys, LA Raiders and the infamous 49er Rap. Since the Bears have company in the cheesy songs and videos category, I think it’ll be fun to compare and contrast.
Bears- Super Bowl Shuffle
Niners-49er Rap
Cowboys-Living The American Dream
Raiders-Silver and Black Attack
Now, you have the vids! Which ones were decent? Which ones were a hot mess?
