Hot Packer Mess Part Two: Brett’s Indecent Proposal

You must admit that the Green Bay Packer/ Favre saga is the best soap opera not on CBS, NBC and ABC! The latest rumors are that the Packers may trade Favre to the Vikings or Bears. At the same time, there are reports from Milwaukee’s WTMJ that Packers’ president Mark Murphy offered Favre $20 million dollars to stay retired.
I don’t know what the hell to say or think at this point. Okay Why in the world would the Packers deal Brett to their divison rivals? Why would they do that knowing that Green Bay will play Minnesota and Chicago twice a year? Then have the gall to offer Favre $20 million ($2 million over 10 years) to stay away. Which one is it Packers? Are you trying to bully Brett by saying “We’ll trade you to Chicago or Minny if you want to play but here is one caviat,you’ll lose fans and tarnish your legacy, etc”? Are you patronizing him with the $20 million offer,knowing that he is dead serious on playing?
I think its both if you ask me. The pack is desperate to hold on to thier modern day legend by any means necessary. They dont want him on the field nor do want him to go anywhere else. Desperate times calls for desperate measures.
I wonder what the Packers’ brass will do when Roger Goodell approve Favre’s request to be reinstated. The plot thickens!
